Tip: Arrive before 9 AM — parking is cheaper, beach is empty, water is clearer.
Kata Beach
Cozy bay with fine white sand and turquoise water. In rainy season (May–Oct) — best surfing on the island. Sunsets, beachfront cafes, calm atmosphere.
Tip: May–Oct: gentle waves for beginner surfers. Board rental from 200 ฿/hour.
Karon Beach
3 km of "singing" quartz sand — squeaks underfoot like snow. Half the crowd of Patong, stronger waves. Open bay, beautiful surf, ThaiGo office nearby.
Tip: Come at low tide — huge stretch of sand. Listen to the sand "sing" under your steps.
Nai Harn Beach
Locals' favorite beach in the south. Calm lagoon, few waves, Buddhist monastery on the hill. Perfect for swimming with kids and long relaxation.
Tip: In season (Nov–Apr) water is crystal clear. Nearby lake for kayaking — 200 ฿/hour.
Bang Tao Beach
6 km of sand — the longest beach on the west coast. Laguna Phuket zone with hotels, golf courses, and spas. Great for long sunset walks along the shore.
Tip: The northern end is wild and empty. Perfect for a motorbike ride along the beach.
Surin Beach
Upscale beach with clear water and fine-dining restaurants. One of the most beautiful sunsets on the island. Beach clubs, cocktails, luxury vibe.
Tip: Catch Beach Club and Twin Palms — best spots for sunset with a cocktail in hand.
Kamala Beach
Quiet family beach 10 minutes from Patong. Peaceful village atmosphere, fishing boats, gentle entry into the water. Ideal for families and those tired of noise.
Tip: Nearby Café Del Mar — one of the best beach clubs on the island with pool and sunset.
Kata Noi Beach
Small bay south of Kata — one of the prettiest beaches in Phuket. Crystal clear water, fine white sand, far fewer people. Great snorkeling near the rocks on both ends.
Tip: Mask and snorkel are a must. Lots of fish and soft corals near the left rocks.
Freedom Beach
Hidden gem — a secret beach in a bay surrounded by jungle. White sand, crystal water, feels like a deserted island. Reach by longtail boat or trek through the jungle.
Tip: Longtail from Patong — 1500 ฿ round trip. 20-min steep walk from the parking lot.
Banana Beach
Hidden beach in the northwest, between Bang Tao and Nai Thon. Small jungle bay that few people find. Clear water, silence, deserted island feeling.
Tip: Trail descent ~15 min. Bring water and snacks — nothing on the beach.
Ya Nui Beach
Tiny scenic bay between Nai Harn and Promthep Cape. Rocks, crystal-clear water, kayak rental. Windmills nearby — one of the top photo spots in the south.
Tip: Snorkeling by the rocks on the right — lots of fish. Combine with Windmill Viewpoint nearby.
Laem Singh Beach
Scenic bay between Kamala and Surin, hidden below the rocks. Was closed to tourists, now reopened. Clear water, boulders, adventure feeling.
Tip: Steep descent — flip-flops won't work, wear proper shoes.
Mai Khao Beach
Phuket's longest beach — 11 km of wild sand in the north. Part of Sirinat National Park. Sea turtles nest here (Nov–Feb). Planes land right overhead.
Tip: Planes fly 100 m above the beach on approach — amazing Instagram shots.
Ao Sane Beach
Wild rocky beach near Nai Harn — three small bays with crystal water. Best snorkeling in Phuket without going to the islands. Corals right at shore.
Tip: Definitely bring a mask — more fish than people. Reef shoes recommended.
Nai Thon Beach
Quiet beach in the northwest, surrounded by greenery. Few people, no hustle, white sand. One of the last "non-touristy" beaches in Phuket.
Tip: Come for the whole day — a couple of cafés nearby, but mostly peace and nature.
Nai Yang Beach
Peaceful beach within Sirinat National Park. Casuarina trees provide shade, gentle slope, almost no waves. Planes fly close — airport is 5 minutes away.
Tip: Great picnic spot under the trees. Airport nearby — planes fly at 200 m.
Viewpoints
10 placesPromthep Cape
Phuket's southernmost point and Thailand's most famous sunset spot. 270° panorama — Andaman Sea, islands, lighthouse. A must-see for every Phuket visitor.
Tip: Arrive 30 min before sunset — best spots at the railing go fast. Free parking.
Karon Viewpoint
Iconic panorama of three beaches — Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon — from above. Classic Phuket postcard view. Small platform, but worth the stop.
Tip: Morning (before 10 AM) — softer light, better photos. Evening — backlit but dramatic clouds.
Rang Hill
Hill overlooking Phuket Town with a 360° viewing platform. On top — Tung Ka café with panorama, fitness park, monkeys. PHUKET sign for classic photos.
Tip: Come at sunset — the city lights up below. Coffee at Tung Ka — 80 ฿.
Big Buddha Viewpoint
360° panorama from Nakkerd Hill, where the Big Buddha stands. See the entire south: Chalong, Karon, Kata, islands. One of the best viewpoints on the island.
Tip: Road is steep — 1st-2nd gear on a bike. Sunset from here is unreal.
Sao Hing Hill
Quiet viewpoint above Phuket Town — no crowds. Panorama of the city and bay. Great alternative to Rang Hill if you want solitude with a view.
Tip: Few people make it here — you'll be almost alone. Best at sunset.
Windmill Viewpoint
Viewpoint by the wind turbines on the cape between Nai Harn and Promthep. Panorama of both coastlines — east and west at once. One of Phuket's best photo spots, without crowds.
Tip: Stop by on the way to Promthep — 5-min detour, but photos will be better than from the cape.
Radar Hill
Phuket's highest point — 529 m above sea level. Panorama of the entire island, both coasts and mainland. Weather station and radar on top. Road is a jungle serpentine.
Tip: Road is narrow and steep — be careful on turns. 5°C cooler on top.
Black Rock Viewpoint
Rocky cape between Surin and Bang Tao — black volcanic stones against the sunset. Dramatic, photogenic, uncrowded. One of the most atmospheric sunset spots.
Tip: Careful on wet rocks after rain — slippery. Proper shoes required.
Samet Nangshe (Phang Nga)
Legendary viewpoint in Phang Nga province — panorama of dozens of karst islands in the bay. One of Thailand's most beautiful sunrises. Worth the early wake-up.
Tip: Leave at 4 AM — sunrise at 6 AM. Drive from Phuket ~1.5 hours. Entry 200 ฿.
Panwa Cape
Quiet scenic cape in southeast Phuket. Lighthouse, island views, few tourists. A completely different side of the island — no beach frenzy, just history and sea.
Tip: Great spot for a quiet sunset. Phuket Aquarium nearby — easy to combine.
Temples
7 placesWat Chalong
Phuket's main and most revered Buddhist temple. Stunning architecture, gilded stupas, inside — a splinter of Buddha's bone. A must for exploring Thai culture.
Tip: Free entry. Remove shoes, cover shoulders and knees. Parking nearby.
Big Buddha
45-meter marble Buddha statue on top of Nakkerd Hill — Phuket's iconic landmark. Visible from anywhere in the south. Construction ongoing for 20+ years on donations.
Tip: Steep road — 1st-2nd gear. Windy on top, stunning panorama. Free parking.
Shrine of Serene Light
Ancient Chinese shrine in an Old Town alley. Famous for its magical light beam — at noon, sunlight enters through a round hole in the roof and illuminates the altar.
Tip: Visit between 11 AM and 1 PM — only then does the light beam hit the altar.
Wat Srivichai
Quiet Thai temple in Phuket Town — no tourist crowds. Classic Thai architecture, well-kept grounds, monks. Perfect place to experience authentic Buddhism.
Tip: In the morning you can see monks collecting alms on nearby streets.
Jui Tui Shrine
Phuket's main Chinese shrine — center of the famous Vegetarian Festival. Colorful architecture, red lanterns, incense. One of the oldest temples on the island.
Tip: In October — Vegetarian Festival with processions and rituals. Unforgettable spectacle.
Wat Phra Thong
Mysterious temple in the north with a golden Buddha statue half-buried in the ground. Legend says everyone who tried to dig it out perished. Quiet, mystical place.
Tip: Tin mining museum nearby — island history. Combine with a trip to the north.
Put Jaw Temple
Vibrant Chinese temple in the heart of Phuket Town. Red columns, golden dragons, lanterns — very photogenic. One of the most beautiful Chinese temples on the island.
Tip: Red lanterns and dragons — perfect photo backdrop. Stop for 10 min on your way to Old Town.
Nature
12 placesTon Sai Waterfall
Phuket's main waterfall in Khao Phra Thaeo National Park. Cascades in tropical jungle, swimming in natural pools. Most powerful during rainy season (Jun–Nov).
Tip: Entry 200 ฿. Bring repellent and water shoes. Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre nearby.
Khao Rang Park
Tropical park on Rang Hill in central Phuket Town. Shady trails, fitness areas, monkeys. Locals come for morning jogs and tai chi.
Tip: Be careful with monkeys — hide food and phone. They grab anything shiny.
Phang Nga Cape
Wild north of Phuket with views of the famous Phang Nga Bay. Limestone islands, mangrove forests, zero tourists. Scenic jungle serpentine road.
Tip: Long ride — plan half a day. Don't speed on serpentines, especially after rain.
Nai Thon Lagoon
Quiet beach near the airport — planes approach just 100 meters overhead. Phuket's Instagram hit. Beautiful, uncrowded beach with casuarina trees.
Tip: Best shots when the plane flies toward you. Track flights with FlightRadar.
Mangrove Forest Park
Wooden boardwalks through mangrove forest on the east coast. Kayaks, crabs, herons. Complete silence. A different Phuket — no beaches, but pure nature.
Tip: Kayak 500 ฿/hour. Come in the morning at high tide — you can paddle far through mangrove channels.
Sirinat National Park
National park in northern Phuket — 90 km² of protected nature. Mangrove forests, wild beaches, turtle nesting. 800 m mangrove boardwalk trail.
Tip: Entry 200 ฿. Sea turtles nest Nov–Feb — you might spot tracks in the sand.
Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre
White-handed gibbon rehab center in the national park jungle. Volunteer project rescuing gibbons from captivity and returning them to nature. Free entry, donations welcome.
Tip: You can "adopt" a gibbon via donation and receive photo updates. Combine with Bang Pae Waterfall nearby.
Bang Pae Waterfall
Phuket's largest waterfall — 15 m tall. Swimming in natural pools, tropical greenery, cool air. Best after rains when the flow is at its peak.
Tip: Entry 200 ฿. Gibbon Rehab Centre nearby — combine into one trip. Bring swimwear.
Kathu Waterfall
Small cozy waterfall just 10 minutes from Patong. Quiet trails, greenery, birdsong. Perfect for a quick escape from beach crowds without a long drive.
Tip: Free entry. Best after rains — powerful flow. In dry season, just a trickle.
Khao Phra Thaeo Reserve
The last stretch of untouched tropical rainforest in Phuket. Rare plants, gibbons, hornbills. Trekking trails from 1 to 3 hours through real jungle.
Tip: Bring 2+ liters of water, repellent, and proper shoes. Guide optional but helpful.
Phuket Elephant Sanctuary
Ethical sanctuary for rescued elephants in the jungle. Observe elephants in their natural habitat, feed them, but no riding. The best way to see elephants without harming them.
Tip: Book ahead — spots are limited. Half-day program ~3500 ฿. No riding — observation only.
Mai Khao Turtle Village
Eco-center dedicated to sea turtle conservation. Learn about turtle life cycles, see hatchlings in season (Nov–Feb). Educational and heartwarming.
Tip: Best visited during turtle season (Nov–Feb). Mai Khao Beach nearby.
Markets
10 placesChengtalay Market
Atmospheric Friday evening market in Chengtalay. Street food from local chefs, live music, craft goods. One of the best foodie markets on the island.
Tip: Friday only 4–9 PM. Arrive by 5 PM — food is fresh and parking still available.
Phuket Night Market
Huge night market on the outskirts of Phuket Town — hundreds of stalls with food, clothes, souvenirs, electronics. Open daily from 5 PM. Where everyone hangs out.
Tip: Bargain! Starting price is usually 2–3x the real price. Cash is a must.
Banzaan Market
Patong's main indoor market — two floors of seafood, fruit, and prepared food. Choose live lobsters, shrimp, fish downstairs — cooked upstairs for 100–200 ฿.
Tip: Bargain on the ground floor, then head upstairs — they'll cook it on the spot for cheap.
Malin Plaza
Budget night market near Patong — cheapest street food on the west coast. Pad Thai 50 ฿, skewers 20 ฿, fresh smoothies 40 ฿.
Tip: Opens at 6 PM. Locals eat here — a sure sign of good prices and quality.
Naka Weekend Market
Phuket's biggest weekend market — thousands of stalls. Food, clothes, gadgets, souvenirs, Thai massage, live music. Literally everything is here.
Tip: Saturday–Sunday only 4–10 PM. Free parking. Come hungry.
Lard Yai (Sunday Market)
Walking street market on Thalang Road in Old Town. Street food, live music, Sino-Portuguese houses with lighting. The most atmospheric weekly event.
Tip: Sunday only 4–10 PM. Explore Old Town first, then have dinner at the market.
Boat Avenue
Trendy shopping complex in Chengtalay — craft cafés, designer shops, evening market. Expat and digital nomad hangout. Western atmosphere.
Tip: Open daily. Canal Village nearby — another trendy complex. Great coffee.
Rawai Seafood Market
Fish market on the Rawai waterfront — fishermen sell their catch straight from boats. Lobsters, crabs, shrimp, fish at wholesale prices. Buy it, they cook it across the street.
Tip: Choose at the market, take it to a café across the street — they'll grill or wok it for 100–200 ฿.
Chillva Market
Hipster container night market in Phuket Town. Street food, craft cocktails, live music, young crowd. Trendy alternative to traditional markets.
Tip: Open Tue–Sat 5–11 PM. Container design — very photogenic.
Indy Market (Old Town)
Intimate atmospheric market in Old Town — craft goods, street food, live music. Smaller and cozier than Lard Yai. For those who appreciate ambiance.
Tip: Thursday evenings only. Combine with an Old Town stroll.

Legendary café on top of Rang Hill — Thai food with a panorama of all Phuket Town. Tables at the railing, city lights below, cool breeze. Local favorite.

Iconic bar on the rocks by Nai Harn beach — cocktails, music, and endless Andaman Sea views. One of the most photogenic sunset spots in Phuket.
Tip: Come an hour before sunset — best cliff-edge tables. Cocktails from 200 ฿.
One Chun Cafe
Authentic café in a beautiful Sino-Portuguese building in Old Town. Phuketian cuisine — mix of Thai, Chinese, and Malay. Photogenic colonial-style interior.
Tip: Try Hokkien noodles — Phuket's signature dish. Lunch 150–300 ฿.
Raya Restaurant
Phuket legend — restaurant operating since the 1950s. Yellow crab curry is the signature dish. Colonial mansion interior, authentic atmosphere.
Tip: Order crab curry and Moo Hong (pork in dark sauce). Lunch 200–400 ฿. You'll come back.
Tu Kab Khao
Trendy southern Thai restaurant in a Sino-Portuguese building in Old Town. Spicy, bold, authentic southern Thai cuisine in a stylish interior. Rated among the best on the island.
Tip: Book ahead — always packed. Try stink beans with shrimp.
Café Del Mar
Famous beach club in Kamala — infinity pool, cocktails, sunset, DJ sets. Ibiza vibes on a Thai beach. One of the most stylish spots on the island.

Old Town Street Art
Dozens of murals and graffiti on Sino-Portuguese house walls. Every alley is an open-air gallery. Soi Romanee, Phang Nga Road, Thalang Road — main routes.
Tip: Morning — soft light and nobody around, perfect for photos. Evening — atmospheric lighting.
PHUKET Sign (Rang Hill)
Large white PHUKET letters on top of Rang Hill — classic souvenir photo. City panorama in the background. Combine with Tung Ka café and a park walk.
Tip: Morning (before 10 AM) — almost no queue. Afternoon — wait 10-15 min for photos.
Ma Doo Bua Café
Famous café with giant Victoria lotus leaves — Phuket's Instagram hit. You can stand on a leaf (up to 70 kg). Great coffee, tropical vibes, unique photos.
Tip: Leaves are biggest in rainy season (Jun–Oct). Entry 200 ฿ with a drink.
Sino-Portuguese Houses
Historic houses on Thalang Road and Dibuk Road — colorful facades, stucco, wooden shutters. Heritage of 19th-century tin barons. Each building is a work of art.
Tip: Morning — soft light without shadows for architecture photos. Evening — warm lighting.
Sri Panwa Viewpoint
Panoramic viewpoint on Panwa Cape — views of Racha, Coral islands and all of southeast Phuket. Near the luxury Sri Panwa hotel, but the road is public.
Tip: Public road to the viewpoint — don't hesitate to drive past the hotel. Gorgeous sunset.
